Returning Pet to Us:

Definition: This means that at some point in the last ten(10) years you adopted your Dog or Cat from Forgotten Paws Pet Rescue.

Your adoption contract requires you by law to return the pet to the custody of Forgotten Paws Pet Rescue or legal action may be taken against you for violation of contract. This is solely for the welfare of the pet.

To Return a Pet to Us: Please EMAIL us with the SUBJECT LINE of "RETURNING A PET". We get hundreds of emails in a week and we must be able to see that yours is valid and needs immediate attention.

Do not take the pet to the shelter! It will Die!

Let me tell you about poor little Libby. Her family begged me to give her to them when she was a puppy. I had bottled fed Libby because she was ill as a pup and she had slept in my bed for 2 months. I wanted to keep her but in the best interest of Libby, I let her go to a new home. 2 years later, her family called me on a Monday and let me a Voice Mail that they needed to give me back Libby. I was out of town and thus didn't check my messages for a few days. The Voice Mail clearly states that it may take a few days to call you back. I called them back few days later but on Tuesday, the day after leaving me a message, they took Libby to Cobb County Animal Control and told them that she was snapping at the children. Libby was KILLED on Wednesday. They had had her for 3 years. If she was snapping, then why did they wait so long to call me or if she suddenly started this, then something else was wrong. The only thing that matters now is that little Libby was killed less then 48 hours after they made an effort to call us. Poor little Libby is not the only one I know of, some didn't bother to call me. WHY I ASK? Wouldn't you rather your pet get a second chance then to be dead?

OWNER TURN IN'S AT KILLED FIRST! The shelters are overcrowded and no ne is looking for an owner turn in pet. They are required to hold strays for 3-5 days but an owner turn in, no matter how cute you think your pet is, will die! Your pet is cute but so are the other 300 in that shelter!

Turning A Pet Into Us

At this time we do not have room to take in any more pets BUT we can assist you by placing them for adoption on all the sites we utilize. YOU have to act as a foster home for your pet while we place it.

Please review Giving Up Your Pet for more information on what you can do.

Warning: Do not place an ad on Craigslist or Petfinder unless you plan to screen people well! We have run across many terrible people on those lists who are getting free dog and selling them to laboratories for testing or selling them to fighting rings as bait dog or fighters.
