Harry is a fantastic dog with the people he knows and trusts. He’s incredibly loyal and protective of his home and of me—especially when strangers come near the gate while I’m standing there. However, if we linger and chat for a bit, he usually warms up and will even jump up on the gate looking for some pets.
That said, Harry definitely needs someone with experience to continue working on his socialization. He doesn’t always remember people from one day to the next—so even if he meets someone on a Tuesday, he may need a fresh introduction on Wednesday. Every visit is like starting from scratch.
To be totally honest, it’s tough, because he really is such a great dog. He’s amazing with everyone at the kennel, loves to cuddle with other dogs (and with me), and he’s housebroken, crate trained, and listens well. He even spent a couple of weeks with a cat and didn’t show any interest—just ignored it.
